Getting drunk in Mexico

Yep, the vacationers favorite past time, drinking and getting drunk.

Party time in Mexico Just about any vacation spot in the world you'll find people drinking and in many cases drinking excessively. Sure, it's a lot of fun and makes for some really good memories and even some you'll never bring up once back home.

Mexico, even thou there are strict laws against drinking or being drunk in public is pretty relaxed about the whole thing. That said, you can get in trouble and should keep some sense of intelligents while indulging. Be aware of your surroundings and watch the interaction the authorities have with the locals and follow suit.

It's best to do this activity in an established bar or nightclub and contrary to what you've heard it is not legal to walk down the street with a beer in your hand unless the streets are blocked of for an event where beer is being sold.

Before I moved here an acquaintance was telling me about the ass-hole cops in Mexico that arrested him. Seems he had on one of those hats you see at ball games where you can put two beers in holders on each side and drink thru a straw while riding his motorcycle down the sidewalk. I kid you not, he actually didn't think he was doing anything wrong because he was in Mexico. Point is people, a good rule of thumb is that if you wouldn't do it at home don't do it here.

Okay, now that I've made that point, Mexico really is a place that for the most part will leave you alone and let you have as good as time as you like and like they say in Squid Row, "what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico" (you might recognize this saying as Las Vegas decided to rip it off and use it in a national campaign).

Have fun and if you get a little wasted on vacation here are two of the test the local police will ask you to perform to determine you level of intoxication. Passing either of the two will normally get you released.
